报告摘要:Self-duality is an elegant algebraic structure of certain critical theories, which is not encoded in the scaling dimensions and critical exponents in the conventional theory of continuous phase transitions. In this talk, I will propose a universal thermodynamic signature of self-dual quantum critical points (QCPs). It is shown that the Gruneisen ratio at a self-dual QCP remains finite as T goes to 0, which is in sharp contrast to its universal divergence at a generic QCP without self-duality. This conclusion is drawn based on the hyperscaling theory near the QCP, and has far-reaching implications for experiments and numerical simulations.

个人简介:Long Zhang obtained B.Sc. and Ph.D. from Tsinghua University in 2010 and 2015. He was a postdoctor in Peking University for two years, and joined Kavli Institute for Theoretical Sciences, University of Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2017. His research interest is theoretical condensed matter physics, including strongly correlated electron systems and quantum critical phenomena.
