报告题目:Cold Atom and Molecules in Novel Optical Fields

Summary

The ability to cool and trap atoms has revolutionised atomic and ultra-cold physics. Molecular physics is currently undergoing a similar transformation as effective methods for manipulating the motion of molecules are being put in place. The application of optical forces using tailored optical fields has demonstrated unprecedented control over the external degrees of freedom of atoms and molecules, opening up exciting new applications in high-resolution spectroscopy, cold chemistry and neutral matter-wave interferometry. Our group studis the dynamics of cold molecules in optical fields, focusing in particular on exploring the molecular self-organisation phenomena in optical cavities to cool molecular ensembles to sub-mK temperatures. We further explore new phenomena arising from nonlinear interactions of cold atoms and molecules in novel optical fields.
